> are the only ones (military) that ordered the "Tractor |
| |
> Tailrotor" like the civil. 205 . All the other |
| |
branches
> (H-models) have the left hand side little |
| |
tail rotor. The
> relocated tailrotor makes a big |
| |
differnce over a fire with
> 350 gal. of mud underneath |
| |
you ...
> we turned in our kaman hh43s for these in 1973. |
| |
I was in the 3rd or 4th class to transition at Hill afb. |
| |
Seems like they made only about 50. There was a noticeable |
| |
differance in tail rotor performance but the h43 was beter |
| |
at altitude heavy with no tail rotor at all. There were |
| |
problems with the hoist and other systems. At any rate local |
| |
base rescue units kept them for a very short time and then |
| |
switched to n models.
|
