Not knowing the exact date but 2471 was attached to the |
| |
Rescue Detachment at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. In July 1984 |
| |
the Detachment was closed and the helicopters were moved to |
| |
Det 9 37 ARRS at Whiteman AFB, MO. It's sister ship's 2471 |
| |
as well as 2457, and 2458. In November 1987 the Air Force |
| |
went to contract maintenance. Kay and Associates recieved |
| |
the contract at Whiteman until July 1995. In the early 90's |
| |
the grey Rescue paint scheme was changed to a dark gray and |
| |
olive dark green.
Try to go through my records but 2471 |
| |
was involved in a roll over crash in late 94 or early 95. |
| |
Was beyond economical repair and with the closing of the |
| |
Rescue Detachment at Whiteman AFB in July 1995. The |
| |
aircraft was trucked to I believe Kirkland AFB, NM for |
| |
accident investigation class. These helicopters are missed |
| |
in the Whiteman area. Every time I hear a Huey go over I |
| |
run outside to relieve my memories....
|
