  • TextFor clarification for all; I work for Canadian Helicopters, which owns and operates all the rotary wing air ambulances in Ontario. They are operated under dedicated contract to the Ontario Ministry of Health Emergency Health Services Branch. All are Sikorsky S-76A models. Up until late 2000/early 2001 the aircraft and pilots were supplied by Canadian, and the paramedics worked directly for the Ministry. We all now work for Canadian. There are a total of 8 helicopters, which use the following call signs:
-- Ottawa
-- London
-- Moosonee/Moose Factory
-- Kenora
-- Thunder Bay
-- Sudbury
-- Toronto (Toronto A/C are additionally ID'd by the last )
-- Toronto (letter of their tail number, e.g. 799Hotel )

The paramedics take medical direction from the Ontario Air Ambulance Base Hospital Program, which is affiliated with Sunnybrook Hospital. I hope that clears everything up =)
